Grammy Nominated Singer Torica

ATLANTA, GA –Dec. 2011 -‐-‐-‐ Despite her busy schedule, Grammy nominated R&B ar:st Torica, always has :me for two important aspects regarding women: service and beauty. Currently hard at work in the studio prepping for the release of her album, A Beau:ful Mess, Torica will combine the two and help homeless women in Atlanta prep themselves for the holidays and beyond. Through her Beauty and Beyond Drive, the singer will collect beauty products, toiletries, and other necessi:es to benefit the Atlanta Day Shelter, a shelter for homeless women and children. The drive will begin at the end of November and carry on through the third week of December.

An avid supporter of all causes and chari:es, Torica felt that there was something missing for women in need. Being a woman and a single mother, she understood the importance of having beauty and hygiene products not just around the holidays, but year round to create a posi:ve self-‐image.

“These things may seem common, but they can become quite a costly necessity for a woman struggling to provide for her family,” explained the ar:st about her urge to create her own campaign and give back to her community. “My ‘A Beau:ful Mess’ movement (and album) is all about loving and having confidence in yourself as you embrace your flaws. I want women to not only take care of themselves, but love themselves in the process.”

Founded in 1984, The Atlanta Day Shelter is a non-‐profit organiza:on that serves about 5000 individuals a year. Its mission is to ease the burden of homelessness for women and children and to assist in establishing self-‐sufficiency by providing comprehensive educa:on and suppor:ve services in a manner that respects human dignity. To par:cipate in the drive by dona:ng beauty and/or hygiene products for women please contact the Atlanta Day Shelter for Women & Children 655 Ethel Street NW Atlanta, GA 30318 at (404)876-‐2894.
